Getting the timing right
Uncertainty, for better or worse, is the most uncomfortable, soul-draining season to walk into. Life gets shaky; not knowing what to do and “leaving it all up to fate” isn’t as fun anymore as it was when you were twenty.
The older you get, the harder it becomes to be okay with uncertainty. I never was a big fan, but I was open to not knowing the next step. I noticed that when years keep adding to the clock, being uncertain feels more like being cornered into a dark room, and getting out of there seems impossible.
It’s scary to take a step in either direction. Sometimes, a better bet might be to sit that one out. As uncomfortable as it is, the eyes adjust to the darkness over time. Even the darkest rooms begin to show glimmers of clarity.
What if uncertainty is an opportunity to step into a place you’d never thought to be in? Life tends to wipe the sleight clean. What if it’s life’s way of telling you that maybe it’s time you braved yourself to make changes, to act on something that made sense in your heart for years, but the timing never was right?
Uncertainty is probably the best time to get the timing right.
